About
A professional soccer trainer and sports enthusiast, I am currently a graduate student at San Jose State University for Sports Marketing.
Riding bikes is not only a way for me to express myself, and stay healthy, it is a lifestyle that I am very excited to be a part of. I ride some sort of bike every day of the week. Sometimes my friends and I race whatever downhill race is going on that weekend, sometimes we slip into our spandex and explore the forest on our xc bikes, and other days we throw the downhill bikes into the back of a pickup truck, take them up to the top, and tear downhill “hootin’ and hollerin” every berm and jump of the way. Other times my dog takes me for a cruiser ride and occasionally I get the urge to go for a road ride down the coast. What it comes down to is that “I love bikes” and all the people and stuff that comes with it.
Growing up playing soccer I was fortunate to have female role models to look up to such as Christine Lilly and various other National Team players. Lilly probably did not have that. Although there has been much progress in the last thirty or forty years, women are still working to break the gender/sport barrier. Cycling is no different. Nine times out of ten when I encounter riders on the trails they are a group of cool and fun guys. I would be so stoked to see more women out there riding! I love riding bikes with ALL my friends, but when I go out with my group of girlfriends it is a truly a unique and awesome experience. My group of girlfriends are my role models, friends, coaches, support, and biggest fans all in one. The best part of riding with other women is I can’t make excuses for not doing new jumps and technical sections. If she does a new gnarly drop, then I don’t have the “well, you’re a dude” excuse. I have to do it and they are usually cheering me on every step of the way. My girlfriends push me to be a better, faster and more confident rider.
My goal is to work in a marketing department within the bike industry. I would love to be involved in the creative and artistic side of marketing. As a total people person, I’m always psyched to meet and get to know other bike enthusiasts. It is always really important for me to encourage newcomers to cycling.
